Family Development Training

September 24, 2009
Kingsborough Community College and the City University of New York present "Family Development Training" • Do you want the families you work with to succeed? • Do you want to rekindle your passion for your work? If the answer to these questions is “yes,” the Family Development Training and Credentialing (FDC) Program for frontline and family workers is for you. The program is a major New York State initiative to change the way health, education, and human services are delivered to families. FDC-trained workers help families capitalize on their strengths to set and achieve healthy family goals.

Developed by Cornell University, FDC training is supported by organizations that want to invest in their workers and help them grow professionally, have a greater impact in their work, and experience greater job satisfaction. FDC training will help workers understand and reconnect with the mission of their organization. This training has an impact on all levels of an organization by empowering and strengthening staff, and giving them new skills and energy with which to better serve their constituents.

This 90-hour training includes interactive classes, the development of a portfolio and skills application assignments, and a New York State credential examination.  Participants that successfully complete the program can earn a Family Development Credential, PONSI college credits and Continuing Education Units.

Scholarships are available for eligible staff employed by community-based and non-profit organizations located within the Neighborhood Development Areas (NDAs).

Classes begin, Fridays: 10am-5pm, Oct. 2, 2009 through Jan. 29, 2010
