UNCF is hosting its first Empower Me Tour in NYC. This event is a college awareness/college survival skills conference for young people. It will take place on Saturday, June 4th at Hunter College. Targeting 7th through 12th graders, parents and teachers. There will be panel discussions - "Ties & Timbs" (for boys only), "Defining Your Pretty" (for girls only) and "Managing the Rising Costs of College" (for parents) to name a few of the discussions. Attending celebrities include Tatyana Ali, Boris Kodjoe, Ledisi, Kim Coles, Mo and Kita, etc. (the kids will know who they are). If people are interested in coming, please have them register online. We need the information for a head count. If anyone wants to volunteer, they should complete the attached form.
WHAT: The UNCF HBCU Empower Me Tour, currently in its third year of operation, was created to initiate a movement among young people to motivate them towards academic excellence and personal responsibility. This unique city tour is presented by UNCF in partnership with the New York City Department of Education. The tour delivers valuable educational tools to students through age-appropriate workshops, panel discussions, and other interactive activities, and seeks to leave them empowered in the areas of:

Ø Health & Wellness
Ø Personal Development
Ø Service & Philanthropy
