East Harlem Community Update

On December 13, 2008, the Human Service Consortium of East Harlem presented the Ecumenical Presentation for East Harlem clergy at the Greater Deliverance Temple, in East Harlem;

there were over 40 clergy representatives of various protestant denominations in East Harlem. The East Harlem CPI presented the overall picture of the child welfare system and its impact on children and families of East Harlem. The Human Service Consortium of East Harlem presented social health economic factors that impact children services as well.  The Human Service Consortium of East Harlem has been invited to present at 5 new houses of worship in East Harlem in the upcoming months.

On April 7th, 2009, the East Harlem Consortium of East Harlem presented a community “Bridging the Gap” workshop for East Harlem residents. The purpose of this event was to increase enrollment of East Harlem families in early childhood education and preventive services. By doing so, it enhances the safety and healthy development of children. Community residents who also attended the workshop received free Metro Cards for participating.
